We’ve been working on improving the first experience on Flavorist.
Not big flashy changes. Just fixing what actually matters.
Because getting started on an app shouldn’t feel confusing or slow it should just work.

Making onboarding simple (finally)
Earlier, getting into Flavorist took more steps than it should.
Now, it’s much cleaner.
You can sign up using Google, Apple, email, or phone. The flow is shorter, and each step is clearer. Verification is faster, and you don’t get stuck wondering what to do next.
We focused on one thing here:
get users inside the app as quickly as possible.
Setting preferences that actually help
Instead of showing random content at the start, we now ask a few simple things:
- what kind of food you like
- your diet preference
- cuisines you’re into
That’s it.
This helps us show better content from the beginning, instead of making users search for things manually.
Profile setup without the friction
We reduced unnecessary inputs.
Username, name, profile photo done in a few quick steps.
Nothing feels heavy, and nothing slows you down.
Permissions, but explained properly
We also changed how we ask for permissions.
Now it’s clearer why we ask for things like notifications, contacts, or location. Users can choose what they want no confusion.
Helping users connect earlier
Flavorist is better when you follow people.
So during onboarding, we make it easier to:
- find friends
- follow people
- start building your feed early
This helps new users feel something is happening immediately, instead of seeing an empty app.
A cleaner, more consistent design
Along with onboarding, we updated the overall look.
Spacing, buttons, layouts everything is more consistent now. It’s easier to read, easier to navigate, and just feels better to use.
Nothing dramatic. Just more refined.
Performance improvements
We also fixed a bunch of small issues:
- reduced loading time
- smoother transitions
- better stability
Things you may not notice directly, but you’ll feel while using the app.
What this means
This update is mainly about one thing:
removing friction.
Less waiting, less confusion, fewer steps.
Just open the app and start exploring food.
What’s next
We’re continuing to improve things step by step.
More updates coming soon.
